As part of their ongoing collaboration with Zimbabwe Cricket, Lahore Qalandars have welcomed Zimbabwean players Clive Madande and Tashinga Musekiwa into their setup. Both players will share the dressing room with the Qalandars as part of a player development initiative designed to provide exposure to the demands of top-level cricket.
The Qalandars have maintained a long-standing exchange program with Zimbabwe Cricket, aimed at nurturing emerging talent from both systems. Under this agreement, players from the Qalandars’ Player Development Program are given opportunities to participate in Zimbabwe’s domestic circuit, while Zimbabwean players gain exposure through involvement with the franchise, including opportunities around the Pakistan Super League.
Both Lahore Qalandars and Zimbabwe Cricket have a 10-year contract, effective since 2023. This initiative continues to strengthen cricketing ties between the two sides while providing valuable international experience to young players.
Clive Madande, a dynamic middle-order batter and wicketkeeper known for his aggressive stroke play and ability to accelerate the innings under pressure, has already represented Zimbabwe at the international level and is widely regarded as one of the country’s most promising young prospects. Alongside him, Tashinga Musekiwa, middle-order batter is another exciting talent for the future of Zimbabwean cricket.
“We are delighted to see Clive Madande and Tashinga Musekiwa integrated into the Lahore Qalandars environment as part of our ongoing collaboration,” said Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni. “This partnership remains a vital pathway for developing emerging talent at Zimbabwe Cricket, while exposing our players to the demands of the modern game. We are confident that the experience they gain will accelerate their growth and contribute positively to the long-term success of Zimbabwean cricket.”
“We are proud to be the only franchise to have signed a long-term contract with a Test-playing nation, and this partnership is not just a milestone for the Lahore Qalandars but also an honor for the Pakistan Cricket Board,” said Sameen Rana, Lahore Qalandars owner.
“We warmly welcome Clive Madande and Tashinga Musekiwa into the Qalandars family. We wish them all the best as they gain exposure to a high-performance environment and look forward to seeing them make their mark in the Pakistan Super League. This initiative is all about learning, growth, and building future stars for cricket in both our countries.”
“Players like Maaz Khan and Salman Mirza have already made the most of this opportunity, gaining invaluable match experience and showcasing their talent on an international stage. Their performances highlight not only their personal growth but also the strength and vision of the Qalandars’ Player Development Program. By competing in Zimbabwe’s domestic circuit, they are building their skills, adapting to different conditions, and setting a benchmark for the success of this unique and collaborative pathway.
