Lahore Qalandars – the most active franchise of Pakistan Super League – had sent their development squad to the tour of Namibia where they participated in Global T20 tournament and ListA matches against Namibia’s domestic side Richelieu Eagles. The tour was aimed to provide youngsters an opportunity to further develop their skills and prepare themselves for future assignments.
The squad, led by Hamza Nazar, returned to Pakistan earlier this week after showcasing their skills.
Qalandars played the final of Global T20 where they went down fighting against DP World Lions in the last over. In two 50-over games, Namibian side Richelieu Eagles were emerged as victorious.
During the tour, Qalandars’ Mohammad Naeem, Mirza Baig, Ahsan Hafeez shone with bat while Dilber Hussain and Jalat Khan topped the bowler performances.
Qalandars’ squad was comprised of its HPC players’ who have yet to make their international debuts and they were up against international players like Captain of Namibian Cricket Team Gerhard Erasmus, and South Africa’s Temba Bavuma, Reeza Hendricks and Cameron Delport which is a huge learning experience for the players of the Class 2022.
The tour strengthens the ties between the Champions of PSL7 Lahore Qalandars and Cricket Namibia. Ahead of the tour, Lahore Qalandars and Cricket Namibia facilitated the training tour for four Nambian Cricketers Shaun Fouche, Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Mauritius Ngupita and Helao Ya France at Qalandars High Performance Centre to train under the guidance of Lahore Qalandars coaches.
Atif Rana, the CEO of Lahore Qalandars said that it was a wonderful experience and a great opportunity for our PDD class of 2022 to play on the international ground against international players for their growth and exposure.
“We will provide them opportunities in the future so that we can train them and strengthen sports in our country,” he added.
DCO Lahore Qalandars added that “overall it was a very good experience for the boys to play with different teams on the international level, the boys have worked so hard for these matches and it was a great learning experience and opportunity for them”.
