Chief Executive Lahore Qalandars Atif Rana has described the successful launch of player’s development program and securing the first Zim Afro T10 title as two major achievements of Lahore Qalandars. In an interaction with media in Lahore he stated that there was a time when Lahore Qalandars were used to criticised on conducting this talent hunt program across Pakistan but we stick to our path and knew our objectives as a result of which we not only won two consecutive titles of PSL but also now Lahore Qalandars players development program is being mentioned as a successful example of a talent hunt programme all over the globe.
“We have been approached by many cricket playing nations as they are interested to adopt such fast track talent hunt system. The demand of the coaches and the players of Lahore Qalandars has significantly increased in last couple of years, in this regard my visit to Zimbabwe has been very effective and memorable.”
The Chief Executive was also delighted to share the features of the landmark deal signed by Lahore Qalandars and Zimbabwe Cricket, under which now the new center of Zimbabwe Cricket will be Qalandars High Performance Center Lahore. According to the agreement, 8 talented players who performed prominently in the successful Players Development Program held recently in Zimbabwe will reach Qalandar’s High Performance Center in Lahore next month. The training of these players will be our responsibility now.
“This deal will play an important role in changing the fortunes of Zimbabwe cricket, as per the agreement the Zimbabwe Under-19 and Zimbabwe Women’s cricket squads will also arrive in Lahore this month, where they will prepare for the Bangladesh tour and Sri Lanka tour respectively. In order to provide the best facilities to the talented Zimbabwean cricket players, the Qalandars High Performance Center is being established in Harare, where the players will be trained in the state of the art cricketing facility. The agreement also includes the introduction of tape ball cricket in Zimbabwe and the sending of five fast bowlers from Qalandars High Performance Center to Harare to participate in Zimbabwe cricket’s domestic season.”
