Lahore Qalandars, the most active and favorite franchise of the Pakistan Super League, has signed an MoU with Sports Board Punjab today to develop women’s cricket talent for the country.

The PSL7 champions, Lahore Qalandars is already known for producing top performers for Pakistan Cricket and LQ’s products like Haris Rauf, Fakhar Zaman, and Shaheen Shah Afridi are among the top performers in the country.

Now, we aim to produce new Sana Mirs, Javeria Khans, and Nida Dar for Pakistan Cricket. The Qalandars are excited to announce the collaboration with Sports Board Punjab. The player development program for women aims to give female cricketers the opportunity to showcase their cricketing skills and an opportunity to pursue cricket as a profession.

According to the program, the initial trials to select players will be conducted on the 18th and 19th of October at Qalandars High Performance Centre and Kinnaird College for Women. Lahore Qalandars and Sports Board Punjab will select 22 top female cricketers for the training program for one year under the supervision of international-level coaches and consultants.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood said while talking to the media “we are going to start a joint venture of Punjab Sports Board and Lahore Qalandars, we are doing this to promote young talent by giving them opportunities, we will train players and take them to the international and national level, we are thankful for the support and expertise of Lahore Qalandars”.

Speaking at the occasion, Atif Rana CEO of Lahore Qalandars said “We are very happy to have Sports Board Punjab on board with us, we are hopeful that this partnership will prove to be fruitful for the young talent of Pakistan, we will work in the best interest of Pakistan, this time we are giving an opportunity to female players to show their cricketing skills and be the inspiring role models for others too”.

Bank of Punjab CEO Zafar Masud added “we have a very strong alliance with Lahore Qalandars and we are really grateful for Lahore Qalandars, this is a very great initiative, cricket is in our blood and by giving opportunities to females we are working towards the betterment of society”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said, “this is for the first time that the Sports Board Punjab is going to sign an MOU with someone to promote sports, Lahore Qalandars has conducted the biggest player development program in the country, we are lucky enough and grateful to have Lahore Qalandars with us to give opportunities to young talent”.
