The season of Pakistan Super League (PSL) is finally here and the opening match is set to be a thriller, as fans would get to see cricket superstar AB de Villiers in action along with his team Lahore Qalandars who take on Islamabad United tonight (Thursday).
The defending champions Islamabad United is coming with a new captain, as United’s veteran Mohammad Sami has taken over the leadership duties after the departure of Misbah-ul-Haq.
The United’s reliable bowling line is the team’s mainstay. Led by the skipper himself, the bowling line, featuring T20 experts Shadab Khan, Rumman Raees and Wayne Parnell, forms a lethal combination of pace and variety.
Meanwhile, the batting line is composed of New Zealand’s blaster Luke Ronchi, who single-handedly took the United to their second PSL crown last season. He will be backed by England’s Ian Bell and Cameron Delport alongside Pakistan’s Hussain Talat.
Coming to Lahore Qalandars, which will be lead by veteran the newly appointed all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez, replacing former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum.
Despite being a under-performing team, the Qalandars are the hottest franchise right now as they will have the services of cricketing great AB de Villiers – the biggest star of this season will be finally making his PSL debut. He will be sharing the batting line alongside big time hitters including Fakhar Zaman and all-rounders Carlos Brathwaite and Corey Anderson.
In the bowling department, one will be eyeing to see the combination of leggie Yasir Shah and T20 sensation Sandeep Lamichhane. Whereas, speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi would provide the pace attack.
