KARACHI: Pakistan Super League franchise Lahore Qalandars has roped in former Leicestershire bowler and renowned spin bowling consultant Carl Crowe as spin bowling coach with an aim to help Pakistan’s problem with the action of spinners.
Sameen Rana, COO of Lahore Qalandars, confirmed to geo.tv that Carl Crowe has been appointed as Qalandars spin bowling coach.
According to Sameen, Crowe’s role will be beyond PSL and the franchise will also utilize him for the training of spinners spotted during its player development program.
“Crowe has worked with Mohammad Hafeez and Sunil Narine in past to correct their bowling action. We think it is important to have a coach of this stature in our team so that our spinners can be helped,” Rana said.
“We are certainly looking to have his role beyond Pakistan Super League edition. We may seek his guidance for the spinners we spot during our player development program so that their action can be seen and corrected if required,” Rana added.
Bowling action of spinners has remained a problem for Pakistan in last few years in domestic and international cricket.
Rana feels that having Carl Crowe formally on board will help Pakistan eliminate this problem, too much extent.
Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars have also appointed Adrian Le Roux as fielding and conditioning coach of the team.
South African Adrian has previously worked with Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders and has the reputation of a high profile conditioning coach.
The 4th edition of Pakistan Super League will commence on February 14th with Lahore Qalandars taking on Islamabad in the opening match.
